When Oprah Winfrey tweeted an article by New York Post columnist John Podhoretz about why she should run for president in 2020, she ignited some strong reactions on Twitter.

Podhoretz called Winfrey the “Democrats’ best hope for 2020” and said Americans need someone in office who would try “to find common ground” and would listen, ask, and speak “without judgment,” characteristics he saw in her when she appeared on “60 Minutes” a few days earlier, Entertainment Weekly reported. http://ew.com/tv/2017/09/29/oprah-for-president-2020/

Winfrey tweeted “Thanks for your VOTE of confidence!” while linking to the article.

Previously, Winfrey repeatedly said she would never run for office, the latst in a June 2017 interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Although Winfrey has a huge fan base from decades as a talk show host, the Twitter reactions were mostly against her running, either because of her liberal politics or because they didn’t want to see another celebrity as president.

A few on Twitter did want her to run and seemed willing to help make it a reality.

And as always, some didn’t take a side but pointed out the oddity of the current political climate.
