LIGNET: Is the War on Terror Really Over?

Last week, a senior State Department official told the National Journal that “the war on terror is over,” a remark that triggered a fierce response from pundits and members of Congress who said such a declaration by a representative of the Obama administration is not only inaccurate, but foolish. There are good points to be made on both sides of this debate. The Arab Spring has eclipsed the War on Terror in the headlines. But there are troubling signs that it may also be promoting the values of radical Islam and that the West is now facing a much greater threat from the Arab world.
