Obama Determined to Stay Out of Libya

Some members of Congress on both sides of the aisle have urged President Barack Obama to assist the rebels in Libya, with many of them calling for a no-fly zone. But at this point Obama is adamant about keeping the U.S. out, Politico reports.

While the president has repeatedly said all options are on the table for dealing with Libya, he’s not yet ready to contemplate military action. “History has shown that when you rush into these things, you get it wrong. We’re not going to rush no matter what anyone says,” one administration official told Politico.

While NATO is debating the idea of a no-fly zone, top Obama aides, such as National Security Adviser Tom Donilon and Defense Secretary Robert Gates are reluctant, despite support for the idea from Sens. John Kerry, D-Mass., Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., and John McCain, R-Ariz.
