President Donald Trump checked a number of boxes off his to-do list Thursday, starting with dauntless support for law enforcement, knocking a Democratic presidential primary candidate for malfeasance and ripping a longtime critic along the way.
President Trump tweeted a shot at New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio for falling short of standing up for NYPD officers who were splashed with water by protesters:
"We love our Law Enforcement Officers all around this great Country. What took place in NYC with water being tossed on NYPD officers was a total disgrace. It is time for @NYCMayor @BilldeBlasio to STAND UP for those who protect our lives and serve us all so well..."
And continued via Twitter:
"...What took place was completely unacceptable, and will not be tolerated. Bill de Blasio should act immediately!"
Mayor de Blasio did tweet words of condemnation Monday, calling the act of dousing cops with water "completely unacceptable," but Trump made a call for action.
He made a point in his past presidential campaign to end what he called a "war on law enforcement." New York City is also close to President Trump because he had made it his home before entering the White House.
