That some 200 IRS agents were reportedly involved in a scandal of harassing conservative groups during the 2012 election and nobody raised a red flag speaks volumes about the culture of the Obama administration, a leading anti-tax activist tells Newsmax.

"Nobody tells Obama 'no,'" said Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform. "A large group of people in the IRS were working on this in Cincinnati, and none of them said 'wait a minute' or raised a red flag."

"It tells you there's something wrong with the culture of the Obama administration," he continued.

Congress is conducting an investigation of the Internal Revenue Service and demanding that the federal tax-collecting agency turn over all communications involving the words “tea party,” conservative,” or “patriot” by Wednesday.

The IRS admitted last week that conservative groups had been improperly targeted and made to comply with cumbersome requests for information outside normal IRS procedures.

Speaking at a news conference on Monday, Obama said he learned about the accusations from news reports on Friday.

"If, in fact, IRS personnel engaged in the kind of practices reported on and were intentionally targeting conservative groups, that is outrageous," the president said.

“There is no place for it and they have to be held fully accountable,” he added.

Norquist said he doesn’t buy it.

Norquist said that over the past two years Republican senators had sent letters to the White House and citizens had raised the issue in the press, but the Obama administration declined to determine whether any wrongdoing had occurred.

"It would be difficult, if not impossible for Obama to look you in the eye and say that he didn't know about these assertions," Norquist said. "The administration made no effort to find out if something was wrong. They made no attempt to stop it."
