Rick Cotton, the head of New York and New Jersey Port Authority, has tested positive for the coronavirus, officially known as COVID-19, and has self-quarantined at home, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Monday.

Cuomo said that although he “could have been in contact” with Cotton, he has not been tested for the coronavirus, according to Fox News.

"You want to prioritize who you test because you're looking for the positive," he said. "I am not a probably positive -- you are looking to test the probable positive."

The governor added that Cotton will continue to work from home, and that the members of his team will be tested for the virus as well.

“He’s the executive director of the Port Authority, so he’s been at the airports, obviously, when many people were coming back with the virus,” Cuomo said, according to the New York Post. “He’ll be working from home, and now the senior team that works with Rick will also be tested, so several of them may be on quarantine and they’ll be working from home.”

Cuomo made the announcement while revealing a state-made hand sanitizer and cleaning solution produced by inmates at Great Meadow Correctional Facility by the Division of Correctional Industries’ Corcraft, which will be provided to government agencies, schools, prisons, the Metropolitan Transit Authority and others.
