Nella Domenici, daughter of Pete Domenici, the late Republican senator from New Mexico, released her first ad in her campaign to defeat the Democrat incumbent, Sen. Martin Heinrich.
National Republicans, citing Nella Domenici's name recognition and personal wealth, see her as a sleeper, Axios noted. It's a race that could force Democrats to use resources to defend what is thought to be a safe seat.
The ad is part of as $500,000 buy highlighting Domenici's family legacy. Her father, the last Republican to be elected to the Senate from New Mexico, died in 2017.
The 31-second ad starts off with the narrator saying: "Nella Domenici grew up here, one of eight kids. Nella's dad serving our state, her mom had her hands full. Nella saw first-hand, those values are timeless. So she stepped up — juggling part-ties jobs, coaching duties and plenty of chores trying to balance it all — like she did as a mom working her way up to CFO."
