A shooting at the Toronto Raptors' championship parade Monday afternoon left at least two people seriously wounded, police said.

The Toronto Police confirmed the shooting on Twitter shortly before 4 p.m. ET, saying there was a report of a woman shot in Nathan Phillips Square as the city's NBA fans celebrated the victory. Videos from the scene posted minutes later showed fans running out of the area.

About 25 minutes after the first tweet, Toronto Police provided an update to say that two victims had "serious but not life threatening" injuries. Two people were arrested and two firearms were recovered from the scene.

According to Global News, the parade had crowd-control problems earlier in the afternoon when fans broke through fencing into an area that was originally set up for media.

The website later posted video shot from a helicopter above the shooting scene, which showed people running in all directions while police and other emergency services personnel flooded the square.

The Toronto Sun reported that several people were injured in the stampede of parade revelers fleeing the scene of the shooting. That list included a Toronto police officer, who according to the Sun suffered a leg injury.

At least four shots were fired, the newspaper reported. Two suspects were arrested near the Queen Subway Station.

There was also a confirmed stabbing near the Nathan Phillips Square Monday afternoon, Toronto police said earlier.

The Raptors have yet to publicly comment on the shooting.

The Raptors defeated the Golden State Warriors in six games to win the NBA title last week.
