Delta Agent Accused of Misgendering in Viral Video

By    |   Wednesday, 27 December 2023 10:22 AM EST

A video of an employee at Delta Air Lines has gone viral after he was captured on camera recently trying to deal with a customer who was offended she had been misgendered, Times Now World has reported.

In the video taken by the customer to call them out, the New York Delta employee responds calmly to the accusation, explaining that it was not intentional, before becoming exasperated and threatening to have the customer removed from the building.

"You're being condescending," the gate agent said to the customer, "and if you want to continue, I'll have Port Authority escort you out the building right this moment if you want to play that game with me. ... Would you like to continue three days before Christmas? I really don't mind," the Washington Examiner reported.

The customer then wrote, "When you try to advocate for yourself at @delta and are met with even more transphobia and threats of being arrested at LaGuardia. ... Didn't realize it was condescending to flag a human rights violation after another employee misgendered me incessantly."

The customer said the Delta agent did call the port authority, saying that "two police officers actually showed up about 10 minutes later and spoke to me and my partner about the incident.'"

Several people on social media praised the Delta agent, with one saying to the customer, "love seeing people like you get humbled." Another said, "you're being completely condescending and actually entitled. He admittedly made a mistake misgendering — he apologized and you continued to be passive aggressive."

Another person wrote that the agent should get a raise, saying the agent is a "ROCK STAR — polite and firm with BS for this fool."

Delta Air Lines responded to the incident by telling the Washington Examiner that "we’re aware of the video and looking into the matter, including reaching out to our customer to understand more about what occurred."
