Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn. said loose immigration policies of the past have impacted every state – and not just those along the Mexican border.
Her comments came Friday in an interview on Fox’s “America’s Newsroom.”
“It is such a big deal,” she said. “The reason is because of loose immigration policies, every state is a border state and every town is a border town.”
Blackburn is running for the Senate against Democrat Phil Bredesen.
She said Tennessee welcomes the policies of President Donald Trump.
“Tennessee appreciates Donald Trump,” Blackburn said. “So you hear a lot about the Supreme Court justices, keeping tax cuts, and jobs and the economy -- keeping that going, -- the immigration issue…
And she added: “People want to make certain that we secure our border and we end sanctuary city policies.”
The winner of the Senate race will take the seat currently held by Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., who is retiring.
