Billionaire businessman Mark Cuban is bankrolling a made-in-America hoverboard firm that's marketing a high-end $1,500 "electric ridable" as a transportation vehicle on par with a URB-E bike or moped, Business Insider reported.

Radical Transport founders Nick Fragnito and Evan Williams were undeterred by the fires that plagued the first hoverboards – and had Cuban's wallet and strategy team to back them, BI reported.

The firm was "confident they would be able to build a board that was better and far far safer," Cuban told BI.

"It is much more vehicle than it is a child's toy," Fragnito told the outlet of the vehicle, called the MOOV, that'll feature a steering system based on weight rather than foot position, a handle for daily rides and devices suited to the rider's skills.

"It really is a showstopper, it's sleek and doesn't look like a toy."

According to BI, Cuban recruited Fragnito and Williams in August 2015 with the intent of buying the original hoverboard patent from Shane Chen. But Cuban decided ultimately he'd make his own. The MOOV is sourced and made in Dallas, BI reported.
