With Florida Sen. Marco Rubio winning Tuesday's Republican primary as he seeks re-election, questions remain whether he'll stay for his entire six-year term or launch another presidential run less than four years from now.

Rubio, who fell short of earning the Republican nomination during the current presidential campaign, changed his mind in June and announced he would seek another term in office after initially saying he would not do so.

In an interview with CNN Tuesday, Rubio would not commit to serving all six years of his term should he win in November.

"No one can make that commitment because you don't know now what the future is going to hold in your life personally or politically," Rubio said. "I can commit to you this: if I'm running to a be a U.S. senator, I am fully prepared to allow the U.S. Senate to be the last political office that I ever hold."

Rubio's refusal to say whether he would stay in the senate through 2022 is a sign he is biding his time to see how the current presidential election plays out and also the first half of Donald Trump's presidency — if he wins, of course.

Rubio's likely Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy said "I can" regarding whether he can commit to serving six years in the senate, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Rubio originally planned to either win the presidential election or finish his current senate term and leave Washington. But after he left the presidential race in March, the GOP pressured him to return for another term.
