A Chinese national, accused of trespassing at President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, has rejected a plea offer of one year in jail, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel is reporting.
Jing Lu, who had an expired visa, turned down the offer to resolve misdemeanor charges of trespassing and resisting an officer without violence, the newspaper said.
She is continuing to plead not guilty – clearing the way for her trial.
According to prosecutors, she entered the resort through a service entrance after being turned away at the main gate on Dec. 18, 2019.
She was able to get about 100 yards into the compound, taking smartphone photos along the way. She fled on foot.
Arrested nearby, she screamed: “No, no, no,” as she was taken into custody.
