Madonna fans are blasting the "Material Girl" after she released an Instagram video showing herself sitting naked in a bathtub filled with milky water and rose petals and declaring coronavirus as "the great equalizer."
"That's the thing about COVID-19," Madonna says in the video, to the backdrop of instrumental music and candles, reports the New York Post's Page Six. "It doesn't care about how rich you are, how famous you are, how funny you are ... it's the great equalizer and what's terrible about it is what's great about it.
"What's terrible about it is that it's made us all equal in many ways, and what's wonderful about is, is that it's made us all equal in many ways," she added.
She also said that "like I used to say at the end of 'Human Nature' every night, if the ship goes down, we're all going down together."
Madonna also posted a picture of herself in the tub with strategically placed rose petals.
Her message of equality, though, was met with derision even from her fans.
"Sorry my queen, love u so much, but we're not equal," one person posted. "We can die from the same diseases, but the poor will suffer the most. Do not romanticize nothing of this tragedy."
Another person, quoting her hit "Like a Prayer," told Madonna that "LIFE IS A MYSTERY. For some people to be safe in their homes, others have to risk their lives."
Madonna is reportedly self-isolating in London along with her dancer boyfriend Ahlamalik Williams and daughter Mercy James.
