CBS News and "60 Minutes" correspondent Lara Logan slammed the Obama White House in Chicago for its handling of the attacks that killed four Americans in Libya and the war in Afghanistan.
Logan, at the annual luncheon of the Better Government Association last Tuesday, derided the administration as apologists for the Taliban and for playing down the number of al-Qaeda operatives in Afghanistan to support its rush to leave,
Fox News reports.
About 1,100 people attended the event, where Logan was the keynote speaker.
"I chose this subject because, one, I can't stand that there is a major lie being propagated," Logan said, according to Fox. The lie is that the American military has weakened the Taliban, she said.
According to Logan, Gen. John Allen, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, told her on Sept. 30 in a report for “60 Minutes” that "an awful lot of the population of this country is living in an area where there is vastly improved security from where it was just a few years ago," Fox reports.
She also said the administration should "exact revenge" on the terrorists who killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans in Benghazi, Libya, on Sept. 11.
America needs, Logan said, to "let the world know that the United States will not be attacked on its own soil – that its ambassadors will not be murdered, and that the United States will not stand by and do nothing about it."
