Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham sent an ominous message to James Comey on Sunday, suggesting that as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee he could be going after the former FBI director, Fox News has reported.
The South Carolina senator sent out a tweet saying “Could not agree more. See you soon,” after Comey commented on the summary of special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe by posting a picture of a man who appeared lost in the woods, accompanied by the caption, "So many questions.”
Graham has long promised an investigation into alleged FISA abuse by the FBI while Comey was its head, which the senator believes may have played a role in the early stages of the Mueller probe, according to The Daily Caller.
As part of those efforts, Graham earlier this month requested all FBI and Justice Department documents connected to attempts by investigators to verify allegations made in the Steele dossier.
Comey sent his tweet after Attorney General William Barr’s announcement that Mueller did not find evidence that Trump’s campaign “conspired or coordinated” with Russia to meddle in the 2016 presidential election but reached no conclusion on whether the president obstructed justice.
Despite Trump’s claim of total exoneration, Fox News pointed out that Mueller did not draw a conclusion on whether he attempted to stifle the Russia probe through his actions, including the firing of Comey.
