Trump: Lewandowski Showed Nothing Wrong or Illegal Done

By    |   Wednesday, 18 September 2019 08:50 AM

While President Donald Trump's former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski was on Fox News Wednesday to discuss the contentious six-hours of testimony he'd given before the House Judiciary Committee, the president posted on Twitter that his former aide "clearly" showed how nothing wrong or illegal had been done.

"As Corey Lewandowski stated very clearly yesterday in front of the House Judiciary Committee, President Trump didn’t do anything wrong or illegal," the president tweeted. "But they all know that. The Democrats are hurting our Country, and getting nothing done. Shameful!"

Lewandowski, appearing on Fox News' "Fox and Friends," called the hearing a "charade" that was another demonstration of "no collusion, no obstruction, which is exactly what the Mueller team said."

He added that he has testified four times before Congress, and the fact is, "there was never a crime committed by this president or anyone of the administration, of the current campaign to try and allow someone to interfere with the outcome of the election. Because if they did do that, I have said it many times, those people should be in jail for the rest of their lives."

Lewandowski on Wednesday labeled the hearing as politically motivated, saying there are many Democrats on the committee who only care about being reelected, including Chairman Jerry Nadler in New York.

The hearing was marked by often-biting questions from Democrats, with equally biting retorts from Lewandowski, who repeatedly answered questions with the reply that he would not speak about conversations he'd had with the president.

"We were there with no preconceived decision to not answer questions," said Lewandowski on Wednesday. "The White House asked for us to preserve the privilege of private conversation with the president...I agreed to that."

Nadler Tuesday told Lewandowski his actions were "completely unacceptable" and said he will take under consideration recommendations to hold the former campaign manager in contempt.
