NBC News host Lester Holt supported Hillary Clinton during her presidential candidate debate with Donald Trump, according to Breitbart senior editor-at-large Joel Pollak.

The Clinton campaign had called on Holt to fact-check Trump during the debate, and he complied, according to Pollak, who said, "NBC News' Lester Holt had his 'Candy Crowley' moment at the first debate of the 2016 presidential election Monday night, bowing to pressure from the Hillary Clinton campaign by 'fact-checking' Republican nominee Donald Trump on his support for the Iraq war."

Pollak was referring to Candy Crowley, a debate moderator in 2012 between President Barack Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney, who corrected Romney during the debate about the Benghazi attack, according to CNN.

Holt's peers in the media liked his performance, but "He lived down to the worst expectations of conservatives, who routinely see Republican candidates treated unfairly by debate moderators," the Breitbart editor said.

The moderator's questions were setups for Clinton to attack her Republican opponent, Pollak said, calling the questions "straight from the Clinton campaign's talking points."

Pollak cited the "five worst examples" of Holt's support for Clinton during the debate.

Holt did not ask Clinton about her email scandal, Benghazi, or the Clinton Foundation, but pressed Trump about his tax returns.

"He did ask Trump about his tax returns, arguing — not asking — that there might be questionable information that the American public deserved to hear," Pollak said.

The NBC News host did not ask Clinton about her record of racist statements, but brought up the "birtherism" issue and said it was racist.

The moderator supported Clinton's point about the "stop-and-frisk" policy. Trump correctly noted the policy had been canceled, while former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani later said Holt was incorrect about the policy being ruled unconstitutional.

Holt interrupted Trump commenting on a question about whether Clinton had a "presidential look." The moderator "then gave Clinton a chance to respond with her talking points about Trump's past comments on women," Pollak said.

Clinton was never asked about her voting in support of the Iraq war while she was a New York senator, just about whether Trump supported it, according to the Breitbart editor.

Holt quieted the crowd when it cheered for Trump when he mentioned Clinton's emails, but did nothing when the crowd cheered for Clinton.

"Bow again, Lester Holt. You did your job," Pollak concluded.

Trump and other conservatives also questioned Holt's impartiality. The Republican nominee said some of Holt's questions were "hostile."

The New York Times reviewed Holt's performance, writing he "gave viewers an unfiltered glimpse of the candidates: their views, speaking styles, and reactions under pressure."
