Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar and Ayanna Pressley have attacked President Donald Trump since they were sworn in, but they back policies that pander to voters and use anti-Semitic slurs, Rep. Lee Zeldin said Tuesday.
"The thing is with these members, especially Omar and Tlaib, I feel like their hearts are filled with darkness," Zeldin told Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "AOC, might be filled more with cotton candy and unicorns."
All four have been "promising free healthcare, free money, a job...we should have that conversation with regards to the substance of the policies."
He added that Trump would be "best-served" to engage on the substance of their policies and statements the congresswomen have made, including AOC's accusations of concentration camps at the nation's borders.
Meanwhile, Zeldin said Democrats are vilifying ICE and Border Patrol officials for doing their jobs, and they should lose, not gain votes for that.
"With a Democratic presidential primary, there's a calculation that by vilifying our great ICE agents, by going after Customs and Border Patrol, by calling them names for calling for them to be defunded, to call for them to be broken up, that they will get votes as a consequence which is greatly unfortunate," said Zeldin.
Members of Congress or presidential candidates should work to change the laws that ICE agents are trying to enforce, rather than attacking those who enforce it, said Zeldin.
"They prioritize going after the worst of the worst," he said. "They are actually keeping our communities safe."
