Former New York City Mayor Ed Koch said he doesn’t trust President Barack Obama on Israel but supports him because he thinks he will be re-elected.
Koch, 88, has criticized Obama for his stance on Israel but later campaigned for him, Buzzfeed.com reported.
"I don’t believe in trusting politicians," Koch told radio show host Aaron Klein, a Jerusalem-based author whose two new books accuse Obama of being a secret Socialist.

"I believe that he is going to win whether I vote for him or not. I believe that he is going to win. So wouldn’t it be better that he wins changing his positions?" he told Klein, according to Buzzfeed.
Koch, a Democrat who campaigned in Florida for George W. Bush in 2004, said he wants Obama to shift his stance on the Iran issue.
"We should say that an attack upon Israel is an attack upon the United States and that we will militarily respond," he said. "That is a very key statement in my judgment."
