Kerry Perry, the embattled USA Gymnastics CEO, was being forced to resign this week following a series of missteps that have haunted her scandal-plagued nine-month tenure, sources confirmed with ESPN.

Perry replaced Steve Penny after he resigned last year flowing the Larry Nassar sexual abuse debacle, and now she ws expected to announce her resignation on Tuesday.

Many were surprised when USAG named Perry as Penny’s replacement, but with her extensive marketing background it seemed like a sensible move considering the controversy facing the scandal-ridden national governing body, The Orange County Register reported.

However, within weeks Perry drew criticism when she failed to reach out to the survivors of Nassar’s sexual abuse and instead prioritized marketing and branding.

Calls for Perry’s firing grew after she struggled through several Capitol Hill appearances and failed to address questions regarding several major issues during a House subcommittee hearing in May.

Perry came under more fire for hiring the USAG women’s elite development coach, Mary Lee Tracy, who parted ways with the organization Friday after attempting to “inappropriately” contact Aly Raisman, one of Nassar’s victims suing the federation, CBS News reported.

Tracey was asked to resign three days after she was hired after reaching out to Raisman in hopes that the gymnast would apologize.

For decades Tracey has faced criticism for contributing towards creating a culture of abuse that enabled Nassar’s predatory behavior and last week Raisman called her appointment “a slap in the face for survivors,” in a tweet.

U.S. Olympic Committee CEO Sarah Hirshland said on Friday she was “disappointed” with USAG leadership.

“Under the circumstances, we feel that the organization is struggling to manage its obligations effectively and it is time to consider making adjustments in the leadership,” she said, according to ESPN.
