Special counsel Robert Mueller's probe into President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign was a "hoax and witch hunt from the beginning," presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway said Tuesday, and she resents people who said she and others would have cut corners to defeat Hillary Clinton.
"I notice a lot of the media are trying to move on to policy, calling me about healthcare and drug pricing and criminal justice reform and let's talk about the budget and economy," Conway told Fox News' "America's Newsroom." "That's great. We've been trying to do that for the two plus years we've been here."
However, there are Democrats who want to continue with their investigations, while the Trump administration wants to learn more about how the probe into the campaign came about.
"Did we have people at the top levels of the DOJ and the FBI trying to sit on the scales of justice to try to prevent Donald Trump from being elected president and after he was elected president trying to prevent him from taking office?" said Conway. "Let's see what led to the FISA warrant application being approved and get to the bottom of the phony dossier that got this party started."
In addition, Conway said it's not yet known what former President Barack Obama and his administration knew about Russian interference in the election, and why nothing was done.
"They were sure Hillary would win or they didn't want to deal with it," said Conway. "[There were] people running roughshod over the justice process at the FBI, trying to rob tens of millions of Americans their rightful voice at the ballot box...let's at least take the time so that America gets the full story."
