President Donald Trump's White House should not keep the list of visitors to the White House secret, according to Judicial Watch, a conservative education foundation that focuses on accountability in government.

"Judicial Watch is disappointed with the Trump White House decision to keep secret the names of White House visitors," wrote Tom Fitton, Judicial Watch president.

Fitton said the Secret Service could handle the privacy needs of White House visitors.

"President Trump should simply allow the Secret Service to apply FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) to its White House visitor logs. The Secret Service can protect the personal privacy of some visitors while also upholding the rule of law."

The Judicial Watch statement went on to slam the Trump White House's decision. "This new secrecy policy undermines the rule of law and suggests this White House doesn't want to be accountable to the American people," the statement said.

Former President Barack Obama's White House also kept logs from being released under the Freedom of Information Act, the Judicial Watch statement read, saying the Trump policy was "perfectly in line" with Obama's.

The Trump administration announced Friday that it would not disclose the logs, citing "grave national security risks and privacy concerns," according to The Washington Post.
