Trump Spokesman Mum on Kelly, Hagin Exit Reports

A top spokesperson for President Donald Trump declined Monday to comment on reports White House chief of staff John Kelly is mulling an exit from the White House, which he reportedly calls "a miserable place to work," and deputy chief of staff Joseph Hagin is also preparing to quit.

"I can't comment on the specifics . . . These jobs take enormous tolls on you physically, they do on their families and there is typically a lot of turnover," Trump national spokesperson Marc Lotter said Monday on Newsmax TV's "America Talks Live."

"I'm not saying that's true in this case. I haven't spoken to John Kelly or Joe Hagin about it. But what I can tell you is that every day they report to work, they report to work ready to do the people's business on behalf of this president.

"And right now when you look at the results – whether it's on the economy, whether it's on international relations – we are getting the results that the people elected President Trump to achieve."

Lotter's remarks follow The New York Times report that Kelly, a retired U.S. Marine Corp general, is beaten down and getting ready to depart the West Wing. And last week, The Washington Post said Hagin, who helped arrange the North Korean nuclear summit, is preparing to step down soon.
