Best-selling author and political journalist John Fund has joined the new Newsmax TV as an on-air commentator and analyst.

Fund begins this exclusive relationship with Newsmax TV effective immediately.

A former Fox News contributor, he's the latest on-air personality to join the channel, which is offering a new approach to news and information programming, presenting independent news from a heartland perspective that gives viewers not only the latest on politics and current events, but practical information on health, the law, money and lifestyle.

Noted legal expert Alan Dershowitz  recently signed with Newsmax TV to host a series of informational short-form legal programs called "You and the Law."

Fund is also national affairs columnist for National Review magazine, and has a particular passion for government, election fraud issues and other topics of national interest.

He spent more than 25 years at the Wall Street Journal and was the newspaper's deputy features editor and a member of the paper's influential editorial board.

His journalism has also appeared in Esquire, Reason, Reader's Digest and the New Republic, among many others.

Fund's books include "Cleaning House: America's Campaign for Term Limits," which he co-authored with James Coyne, and his 2014 book, "Obama's Enforcer: The Eric Holder Justice Department."

"John Fund is without question one of the smartest, most articulate voices in the national conversation, and his insights will be a welcome addition to our programming," Newsmax Media CEO Christopher Ruddy said.

"As the country gears up for a new and sure-to-be-contentious election year in 2016, John's intelligent and entertaining viewpoint will be especially welcome."

Fund said: "Christopher Ruddy and his team at Newsmax TV are setting a new standard for news and information programming, with a fresh perspective on topical subjects and openness to a variety of views and opinions. I'm looking forward to adding my voice to this growing and important service."
