Hanging his hat on certain parts of her interviews with the FBI, Hillary Clinton's senior strategist Joel Benenson continued his assault on media outlets that say she lied about her private email server, insisting she has told the truth.
Benenson appeared on MSNBC to refute the multiple stories — including in the left-leaning Washington Post — that accuse Clinton of continued lying about her server, according to a story in The Washington Free Beacon.
"If either the journalist in the Atlantic or the [Washington Post] fact checker would go back and look at what [FBI] Director Comey said in testimony before Congress, that her answers during several hours of our interviews were truthful," the Free Beacon quoted Benenson.
The Washington Post story accuses Clinton — and her campaign — of parsing the facts to give straight-faced assertions of being truthful.
"Clinton is cherry-picking statements by Comey to preserve her narrative about the unusual setup of a private email server," Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler wrote. "This allows her to skate past the more disturbing findings of the FBI investigation."
And The Atlantic begged Team Clinton to quit spinning lies.
"Clinton's advisers, senior Democrats, and members of the liberal media need to stop covering for Clinton. … It's too late for Clinton to come clean, but honorable Democrats should at least insist that she stop muddying the water," wrote Ron Fournier.
