Radio show host and former GOP Rep. Joe Walsh, a day after officially announcing his candidacy against President Donald Trump, on Monday continued with his attacks, claiming that "most people" are tired of having Trump in the White House, but conceded that his own language helped get him elected.

"It's like we live in this bizarre world where either every American is embarrassed or disgusted with who this guy is personally," Walsh told CNN'S "New Day." "President Trump. I mean, you know like I know. He lies. The tweets. I think most people privately are tired of it."

Walsh also addressed some of his more incendiary comments he made in the past, including saying last year that he has the right to call former President Barack Obama a Muslim and Trump a "thin-skinned egomaniac." Walsh also defended a statement from 2014 when he argued against people who felt the word "redskins [was] the new "N" word, saying he, like most Americans, have the right of free speech.

"My point is to get people to think," he said. 'Oftentimes I step over the line. If there's one thing I've learned in the last couple of years is, is it (has) led to what we have in the White House now."

He claimed, though, that he's "done with personal attacks" after observing Trump in office.

Walsh, also appearing on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," warned that if Trump is nominated, the "Republican Party is going to get spanked."

"Young people don't like Trump," he said. "Women don't like Trump and people who live in the suburbs don't like Trump...it's looking like another political tsunami is coming the Republican party's way if Donald Trump is at the top of the ticket."
