Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., announced he will vote to confirm William Barr as attorney general.
His announcement came in a Tuesday afternoon tweet.
Manchin wrote: “Today I will vote to confirm William Barr to be the next Attorney General because he is well-qualified and I am confident that he will faithfully execute the duties of the chief law enforcement officer of the United States of America.”
He is the second Democrat to announce their support for Barr. Sen. Doug Jones of Alabama also said he will vote for Barr.
Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., citing Barr’s stance on privacy issues, said he will oppose President Donald Trump’s nominee.
The Hill noted Manchin’s announcement came as the Senate was set to take an initial vote on Barr later Tuesday.
