Former President Jimmy Carter offered a frank assessment of the current occupant of the White House, saying another four years of the Trump administration would be a "disaster."

According to CNN, Carter, a Democrat who served one term in office, was speaking at a Carter Center town hall event Monday night and addressed the 2020 election.

"I'm going to keep an open mind. One of the major factors I will have in my mind is who can beat Trump," Carter said. "I think it will be a disaster to have four more years of Trump."

The 94-year-old Carter also said he supports having an age limit for U.S. presidents after realizing he would not have been able to do the job at age 80.

"I hope there is an age limit," Carter said. "You know, if I were just 80 years old, if I were 15 years younger, I don't believe I could undertake the duties that I experienced when I was president."

President Donald Trump is 73. Former Vice President Joe Biden is 76 and Sen. Bernie Sanders is 78.
