Rep. Jordan: Pelosi Wrong About Vote on Border Wall

(Fox News' "America's Newsroom")

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., was wrong Tuesday when she said there are not enough votes in the House to pass President Donald Trump's call for $5 billion in funding for a border wall, Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, said Wednesday.

"We have to try – we have to have the debate," Rep. Jordan told Fox News' "America's Newsroom."

"I think if we stand firm, we can get it done. After all, this is what the president's proposing it's just common sense. We need a border security wall. We need to reform our asylum laws. It's obvious this whole caravan issue has highlighted that and underscored that."

When Trump was elected in 2016, his biggest promise was on border security, and the House should pass the funding for it as soon as possible.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., has pointed out Democrats have voted for bills that had billions of dollars in them for border security, and accused them of wanting Trump to lose rather than pass a bill that would help the country win, and Jordan said he agrees.

"They used to be for common sense policy building a border security wall, getting control of our southern border," Jordan said. "Now they're for open borders and abolishing ICE."
