Former special counsel Robert Mueller will likely testify in front of Congress regarding his Russia report findings before the end of the summer, House Judiciary Chairman Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., said Tuesday.

Nadler was on MSNBC and said his panel is in discussions with Mueller to have him testify about what he learned regarding President Donald Trump, Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election, and whether Trump might have obstructed justice.

"We're carrying on conversations with him. He will come in. If we have to subpoena him, we will," Nadler said.

When asked if Mueller would show up before the end of the summer, Nadler was quick to respond.

"Oh, I would think way before that," he said.

When pressed to provide a more detailed timeline, Nadler would not comment further.

Mueller's report cleared Trump of conspiring with the Russians to win the election, but it did not say whether or not he obstructed justice during the nearly two-year investigation. Attorney General William Barr then ruled there was not sufficient evidence to pursue an obstruction case.

Democrats, however, are now focused on obstruction as they dig deeper into Trump's actions.
