Jerome Corsi, the investigative journalist and author of the runaway bestseller "Killing the Deep State," has established two legal defense funds after announcing he expects to soon be indicted by Robert Mueller, the special counsel investigating Russian interference with the 2016 election.

In a live stream YouTube broadcast Monday, Corsi said the money raised would help defray massive costs associated with his legal defense.

"The expenses are extraordinary," he said. "You face losing your home, being in prison, so the entire family is destroyed."

Corsi encouraged donations to a site established on PayPal.com. Corsi's attorney, David Gray, set up a second defense fund on GoFundMe.com about a week ago. There is no indication yet how much money the two fundraising appeals have raised.

In the Monday broadcast Corsi, an author, investigative journalist, and associate of Republican political operative Roger Stone, described the frustration he felt when he learned he would be indicted.

"I tried two months to cooperate with the Mueller investigation," he said, "and what I'm going to get in return is indicted. We'll just play it out from here. I do ask your assistance in donations."

He added his legal defense fund "is absolutely essential for me to be able to continue functioning and in any way meet the defense needs that I'll have to be facing here."

Corsi worked as the Washington, D.C., bureau chief of InfoWars until this year. He said Monday he does not know what the criminal charge will be against him, but indicated it will stem from the Russia investigation.

His explosive book "Killing the Deep State: The Fight to Save President Trump" spotlights a conspiracy to destroy the Trump presidency, and delineates what the president must do to prevail.

Corsi said he believes the impending indictment stems from his iron-clad backing of Trump.

"I think my crime really was that I dared to support President Trump," he remarked. "Supporting President Trump and I think, since 2004, writing 20 books – I guess those were my crimes. Now, I'm going to have to go to prison the rest of my life because I dared to oppose the deep state."

Corsi said his interactions with the special counsel's team began Aug. 28 when two FBI agents showed up unannounced on his doorstep to serve a subpoena.

"We began a series of discussions with them that have gone on for two months," he said on YouTube.

Corsi insists he did "everything I could to cooperate," but said negotiations with Mueller's team "have just blown up."

"And now I fully anticipate that the next few days I will be indicted by Mueller for some form or other of giving false information to the special counsel or to . . . the other grand jury or however they want to do the indictment," he said. "I'm going to be criminally charged."

He called his interaction with authorities, "one of the most frightening experiences of my life," adding: "I've committed no crime."

Special counsel investigators have questioned Stone and Corsi to determine what connection if any they might have had with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. Both deny having any communication with Assange.

According to ABC, Corsi is an important figure in Mueller's investigation, which began in May 2017 over allegations of undue Russian influence on the 2016 presidential campaign.

The Washington Post reported Oct. 30 that Mueller "appears to be focused on the question of whether WikiLeaks coordinated its activities with Stone and the campaign," especially the timing of the October 2016 release of hacked emails written by John Podesta, Hillary Clinton's campaign manager.
