Jeanne Parr — one of CBS News' first female correspondents and mother of "The Good Wife" and "Sex and the City" star Chris Noth — has died at the age of 92.
"My mother lived fiercely with courage and love. She never accepted anything less than her dreams," Noth told
People magazine.
Parr launched her career on local TV and radio in Madison Wisconsin, and was recruited to join CBS News in New York.
Among the top stories she covered were the 1964 Republican National Convention in San Francisco and the deadly 1967 race riots in New York City and Newark.
In 1976, she wrote "The Superwives" about the partners of top athletes, and two years later, launched her own talk program, "The Jeanne Parr Show." She also produced several documentaries and launched her own consulting firm.
She holds the distinction of being one of only a few people who appeared as both a contestant and a panelist on the TV game show "What's My Line?"
Parr is survived by her three sons, Charles Jr., a lawyer; Michael, a psychotherapist; and Chris, who appeared as "Mr. Big" on "Sex and the City," and on "The Good Wife" and "Law & Order."
