House Oversight Chairman Jason Chaffetz said Monday he plans to call Secretary of State John Kerry before his committee to testify about why a video from a 2013 press briefing about the Iran nuclear deal was edited.

"We've got a bunch of questions about Iran because we don't know the details of what happened there," Chaffetz told Fox News' "Fox and Friends" program, complaining that the Obama administration has a "pattern" of "whitewashing" the public record.

The State Department is facing scrutiny over how the briefing was edited, after then-spokeswoman Jen Psaki was shown suggesting that the talks leading to the negotiations had begun earlier than had been reported.

Kerry on Friday said that whoever was responsible for cutting the eight minutes from the official record was "both clumsy and stupid and inappropriate," and that he does not want the person or people who tampered with the record working for his office.

Last week, the State Department also said that the person who edited the video said he or she did not remember who signed off on the order.

Chaffetz, a Utah Republican, has asked that Kerry hand over all documents and items related to the video, but he said Monday that there are "a lot of questions about the Iranian deal that now need to be answered."
