The next national security adviser must be able to cobble together coalitions around the world and within the administration to carry President Donald Trump's agenda – something Center for Security Policy President Fred Fleitz is eminently skilled in – according to former CIA Director James Woolsey on Newsmax TV.

"That takes the kind of skill that I think Fred Fleitz does really demonstrate and has throughout his career," Woolsey told Monday's "Newsmax Now."

Fleitz, a leading candidate to replace National Security Adviser John Bolton, told host John Bachman "the president will choose very soon."

"They're going to choose someone who is going to advance the president's America first agenda, keeping us out of wars, not starting new ones, reasserting American strength on the global stage, and trying to find a way to resolve some of these conflicts, such as North Korea, with diplomacy, without using force," Fleitz told host John Bachman.

"I think there's a lot of good candidates, and I think the president will choose very soon."
