Former FBI Director James Comey and current Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein were among the Department of Justice officials who signed off on FISA warrants that resulted in the government spying on the Trump campaign.

According to a Republican memo that was declassified and released Friday, several current and former DOJ officials were involved in the spying process that began Oct. 21, 2016 when a FISA warrant to surveil Trump campaign foreign policy adviser Carter Page was submitted.

Comey, Rosenstein, former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, and former Acting Attorneys General Sally Yates and Dana Boente all signed orders to either authorize or reauthorize surveillance on Page, Nunes wrote.

The initial FISA warrant cited a scandalous but unverified dossier about then-candidate Donald Trump and a Yahoo News article — which contained information from Christopher Steele, the dossier author — as probable cause to begin spying on Page.

Included in the dossier were allegations that Trump had prostitutes in his hotel room during a stay in Moscow in 2013 and that Russia had enough dirt on him to blackmail him.
