Carville: Harris '7th String QB' in 'Super Bowl' Election

By    |   Sunday, 02 February 2025 02:36 PM EST

After a summer and fall falsely claiming Democrats would defeat President Donald Trump, Democrat strategist James Carville is now pivoting to calling former Vice President Kamala Harris a "seventh string quarterback" in a "Super Bowl" election.

"If we were playing in a Super Bowl, we started our seventh string quarterback," Carville told PBS' "Firing Line With Margaret Hoover." "That's what happened.

"OK, let's — you can't you can't address a problem unless you're honest about a problem. And none of this was inevitable. Never should have happened."

To further deflect from Trump's massive popularity and political cachet, Carville blamed former President Joe Biden, too.

"Joe Biden stands over this disaster like a colossus," Carville continued. "He just does. I mean, you can't — he's a great guy, James you shouldn't say that — he's a wonderful man.

"Who cares? If you don't win the g*ddamn election, you've done nothing! Zip, nada. You don't count.

"I don't care how good a man you are. Until Democrats learn that and quit keeping their head in the cloud and talking goofy language no one else talks. We got to be, you know, nice to people. Screw that! Run over them."

Having Biden and Harris lead the Democratic Party was in lieu of "staggering talent" on the bench, Carville claimed, refusing to acknowledge none of it rose to the occasion in the 2020 Democrat presidential primary.

Carville even admitted Trump was right in his criticisms that neither Biden nor Harris had the appropriately level of cognitive ability to give voters confidence.

"People would have seen that, they would have gone, 'I didn't know that people like that, that can actually complete a sentence,'" he said. "We have not had an inspirational presidential candidate since 2012."
