People who have been victims of sexual harassment by two current members of Congress do not want those lawmakers' names revealed, according to Rep. Jackie Speier, D-Calif.

"The victims are the ones who do not want this exposed," Speier said Wednesday after a press conference Tuesday announcing a bill to protect sexual harassment victims, according to the Washington Examiner.

Speier said she does not have plans to name the lawmakers or to meet with them.

"I've not approached them. It's not my role to approach them," Speier said, according to the Examiner.

The House had paid out $15 million in settlements over sexual harassment in the last 10 to 15 years, Speier said in her announcement Tuesday.

On Wednesday, Speier and a bipartisan group introduced the victim protection bill, saying it shows that both parties can team up successfully.
