he U.S. Defense Department says the militant group Islamic State no longer holds any territory in Syria, White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said Friday.

U.S. Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan briefed President Donald Trump as he was traveling to Florida on Air Force One, Sanders said, adding that ISIS control is "100 percent eliminated."

Around the same time, Trump fired off a pair of tweets about ISIS:

"ISIS uses the internet better than almost anyone, but for all of those susceptible to ISIS propaganda, they are now being beaten badly at every level....

"....There is nothing to admire about them, they will always try to show a glimmer of vicious hope, but they are losers and barely breathing. Think about that before you destroy your lives and the lives of your family!"
