"Inside Amy Schumer" has apparently imploded over one of its writer's comments about rape victims and the backlash following his firing.

The award-winning Comedy Central sketch show that made Schumer a household name was renewed for a fifth season in January and had just wrapped up its fourth season in June, noted E! News.

But a new season seemed in doubt on Wednesday after Schumer's cryptic message about writer Kurt Metzger.

Variety reported that Metzger, a credited writer on numerous episodes for "Inside Amy Schumer" and someone the comedian has described as a friend, put up several Facebook posts responding to Upright Citizens Brigade for allegedly banning comedian Aaron Glaser.

Glaser had been accused of sexual assault on a female comedians' private Facebook group, said Variety, noting that Metzger was critical of the group and the accusers.

"Don't f****** complain about the police not helping if you didn't bother going to the police at all," said a post on Metzger's Facebook page on Monday. "'Why aren't the rape kits being tested??' Because instead of actually educating women with useful information on what to do if they are being victimized, you blather nonsense about 'culture' and then tell them being weak is being strong."

Schumer responded on Wednesday on Twitter, expressing her "disappointment" in Metzger's comments. She followed with a second tweet saying Metzger no longer worked for her before dropping the news-making post implying the show's end.

"Inside Amy Schumer" won the Emmy Award for outstanding variety sketch comedy series in 2015 and was nominated for the same award in 2016 and 2014. Metzger was listed as a writer for the series in 2016 and 2014.
