The Obama administration insisted that the Benghazi attacks that killed four Americans erupted from a protest over an anti-Muslim video because any hint of organized terrorism would have debunked President Barack Obama's assertions that his Mideast policy was working, Sen. Jim Inhofe said on Saturday.
"They were pushing the video thing because it was just a matter of days before that he had made the American people think that his Middle East policy had stopped all terrorist activity," the Oklahoma Republican told Jeanine Pirro on her Fox News program. "This was a couple of months before the election.
"Obviously, with an organized terrorist attack, it just defused the message that he was trying to send," Inhofe added. "That was their motivation. It couldn't be anything else."

The attacks on the U.S. Consulate in Libya on Sept. 11, 2012, killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans, including two former Navy SEALS.
Five days later, Susan Rice, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, went on five Sunday morning talk shows and said that the incident began as a
peaceful protest against an anti-Muslim film that was later “hijacked” by militants.
Rice, who now is Obama's national security adviser, has since called Benghazi "a false controversy."
In his interview, Inhofe told Pirro that Obama sent out Rice because "President Obama has always historically gotten by with things. He's very persuasive.
"I guess he thought that if he would say it, and send her to the Sunday shows and make that statement, people would believe it.
"All the evidence is there," he continued. "I don't think anyone now doubts that they knew it was an organized terrorist attack. It's the motive. The motive was fairly political."
Referring to such famous political scandals as Watergate, Iran-contra and the Pentagon Papers, Inhofe added: "We all know that it's not the act, it's the cover-up that people find so offensive. This is far worst, because there's absolutely no doubt in anyone's mind that they were lying, they were not telling the truth to the American people.
"This happens to be the worst of all the cover-ups."
