Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said Friday he'd put his money on President Donald Trump in his growing feud with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, but still, he's "disgusted with the whole thing" and wants to see the government shutdown come to an end.

"I want them to get the government back open," Huckabee told Fox News' "America's Newsroom." "I want them to end this really ridiculous fight. We've spent more money in the government shutdown then the president was asking for in the original $5.7 billion dollars (for the border wall.)"

Meanwhile, Trump and Pelosi are playing hardball, with Pelosi starting it by telling him he  shouldn't come to the House for his State of the Union address, but then Trump counterpunched by refusing to allow her and other Democrats to use a military jet to fly overseas to Brussels, Egypt, and Afghanistan.

"When you start that game you better understand that Donald Trump is always going to play on  the same level of field," said Huckabee. "He's just gonna play as rough as anybody else plays...he is not a guy that runs over to the corner and bites his lip and puts a tear in his eye.  He's going to come out swinging."

He added that he thought Trump's response was appropriate.

"They were going to go on this seven-day junket right in the middle of a shutdown, which shows that they really don't care about 800,000 government workers," said Huckabee. "They care about themselves and they care about stopping Trump."
