Democratic presidential contender Sen. Bernie Sanders raked in over $200,000 in 2014 — the same year in which Hillary Clinton was paid more in a single hour for many of the speeches she delivered, reports say.

The Washington Post, reporting ahead of the official release of Sanders' 2014 tax returns Friday, reports the Vermont lawmaker documented income of just more than $200,000 — most of it from his $174,000 Senate salary and Social Security benefits he and his wife, Jane, receive.

The Sanders total pales against the stack of cash Clinton collected for the 45 speeches she gave in 2014, including $225,500 from GE, $325,500 from the National Automobile Dealers Association and $280,000 from Deutsche Bank AG, the Weekly Standard reports.

In February, a CNN analysis concluded Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, combined to earn more than $153 million in paid speeches from 2001 until Clinton launched her presidential campaign.

According to the CNN analysis, the two gave 729 speeches from February 2001 until May, getting an average check of $210,795 for each address — including at least eight speeches for which Hillary Clinton collected some $1.8 million.

The Weekly Standard issued the list of the former secretary of state's publicly disclosed paid speeches since leaving the State Department, totaling $21,667,000.
