Nearly half of Americans say that they are not satisfied with former Sec. of State Hillary Clinton's response to the 2012 Benghazi attacks that killed four U.S. citizens. However, a large number told the latest NBC News-Wall Street Journal poll that they think the inquiry by the special House Benghazi committee is biased.

Clinton, the front-runner in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, testifies before the Benghazi panel on Thursday.

The results:

On Clinton's response to attacks:
  • Not satisfied: 44 percent.
  • Satisfied: 27 percent.
  • Don't know: 28 percent.
On whether the Benghazi investigation is fair:
  • Unfair: 36 percent.
  • Fair: 29 percent.
  • Don't know: 35 percent.
On whether Clinton's private emails are an important factor in voting:
  • Yes: 47 percent.
  • No: 44 percent.
In hypothetical general election matchups against Republicans, Clinton would defeat:
  • Ben Carson 47-45 percent.
  • Marco Rubio 46-45 percent.
  • Ted Cruz 49-41 percent.
The survey of 1,000 adults was conducted between Thursday and Sunday and has a margin of error of 3.1 percent.
