A Christian group is suing two banks and a Kuwaiti sheikh over the murder and displacement of Christians in the Middle East.

According to the Courthouse News Service, St. Francis of Assisi — a nonprofit based in California — filed a lawsuit against the Kuwait Finance House, Kuveyt-Turk Participation Bank, and Hajjaj al-Ajmi on Monday.

The group assists refugees who have been forced to flee their native Iraq and Syria because of the Islamic State (ISIS).

"My clients have lost everything," the group's attorney Mogeeb Weiss told Courthouse News. "They've lost their property, livelihoods, members of families that have been murdered systematically. It's very important, for no other reason than it is so unprovoked, other than religious beliefs."

The complaint numbered 19 pages, although there was no word on how much money St. Francis of Assisi is seeking in damages.

"To successfully plan, fund, and carry out the killings of members of [St. Francis of Assisi], ISIS relies upon an open, notorious, well known, and formalized system of terrorist financing which incentivizes and incites the killings and displacement of the Assyrian Christians," the complaint reads, according to Courthouse News.

Al-Ajmi, a Sunni cleric, has allegedly raised money for terror groups in the past via Twitter, which forced Twitter to suspend his account two years ago.
