Multiple groups associated with the Republican Party are using shirts promoting the purchase of Greenland by the United States as a fundraising incentive, Newsweek reports.

The National Republican Congressional Committee is providing donors who contribute $25 or more with a shirt showing a map of the U.S. and Greenland colored like the American flag.

"Support President Trump and his efforts to help America grow!" reads the NRCC's website.

Greenland, a semi-autonomous Danish territory, is "not for sale," according to Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, who described President Donald Trump's idea to buy the island for the U.S. as "absurd."

The Nevada Republican Party is also offering a shirt depicting a union between the U.S. and Greenland, which the group shared on its Facebook page with the message: "Show your support for making Greenland the 51st state. Get your shirt before they're gone."

Trump unloaded on the Danish prime minister on Wednesday during remarks to reporters on the White House's South Lawn.

"I thought that the prime minister's statement — that it was 'absurd,' that it was an 'absurd' idea — it was nasty. I thought it was an inappropriate statement. All she had to do is say, 'No, we wouldn't be interested,'" Trump said. "You don't talk to the United States that way, at least under me ... I thought it was not a nice statement — the way she blew me off — because she is blowing off the United States. And we've done a lot for Denmark. We've done a lot. I know Denmark well. I have many friends from Denmark. I have many people from Denmark that live in the United States."
