A Google staffer who visited the company’s Mountain View, Calif., campus, where thousands are employed, has been diagnosed with the measles, BuzzFeed News is reporting.
An email was sent out last week to Google employees by David Kaye, an occupational medicine physician, according to BuzzFeed News. It noted the worker, who had been in one of the campus buildings on April 4, has been diagnosed with the measles.
“We have been working with the Santa Clara County Public Health Department and they would like us to share this measles advisory, which contains information on measles, exposure risks and actions to be taken,” Kaye wrote April 13.
“If you have any additional concerns, or have specific questions about your health, please contact your primary health provider.”
He stressed the note was just a precaution.
The number of measles cases through the first three months of the year surpassed the count for all of 2018, health officials said. There were 387 cases in the U.S. through March. There were 372 last year.
Health officials said this week the count currently stands at 555 cases across 20 states, according to BuzzFeed News.
