Executives at Google expressed their dismay and fear after President Donald Trump won the election in 2016, as captured in video of a company-wide meeting that was leaked.
Breitbart News obtained video of the November 10, 2016 meeting, which offers a glimpse into how Silicon Valley viewed Trump from behind closed doors.
"Myself, as an immigrant and a refugee, I certainly find this election deeply offensive and I know many of you do too," said Google co-founder Sergey Brin, who hails from Russia. "And I think it's a very stressful time and it conflicts with many of our values. And I think it's a good time to reflect on that."
Brin went on to say the United States was entering "a period of great uncertainty, and it's uncertain for many of us here — especially immigrants or minorities, women, so many people."
Later while talking about Trump voters, Brin appeared to compare at least some of them to extremists by saying Google has conducted a study that found a correlation between "extremism" and "simple boredom."
Near the end of the meeting, Brin said "there is data that suggests that boredom led to the rise of fascism and also the communist revolution. There are many other factors too, but it sort of sneaks up sometimes — really bad things."
Google CEO Sundar Pichai sang a similar tune, saying the election was "an extraordinarily stressful time I'm sure for many of you."
"Historically, all political processes are stressful and tough, particularly if the outcome is not what you hoped for," Pichai added.
CFO Ruth Porat also spoke at the meeting and played the emotional card at one point.
"Yesterday, [Google vice president Eileen Naughton] and I had a town hall for our orgs and I suggested that what we all need right now is a hug," Porat said. "So everybody, if you could turn around or go to the person next to you and do a hug."
Elsewhere, leaked emails from Google executives showed how they tried to help Latino voters get to the polls for the 2016 election by giving them free rides and helping create marketing campaigns that advertised the offer.
