Special counsel Robert Mueller's report was a "one-sided, highly biased" document and not everything in it can be assumed to be the truth, President Donald Trump's attorney Rudy Giuliani said Friday.
"That was not a fairly written report," Giuliani told Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "You have to see it in the light of a man being accused of a crime he didn't commit. You put yourself in that position. You're accused of conspiring with not an enemy, but pretty close to an enemy, Russia, to do something horrible, and you know you didn't do it."
Giuliani pointed out that he was with Trump "18 hours a day for four months" during the 2016 campaign, and "he wasn't conspiring with anybody but us to get elected president."
In addition, Trump should have been presumed innocent, but the report was from the angle of requiring him to prove his innocence, said Giuliani.
He added that the investigation started after former Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos was "set up."
"They gave him the information, from a Maltese diplomat which he then imparts to Australian diplomat...this is a completely patented, counterintelligence dirty trick and you got a couple of foreign agents involved," said Giuliani. "You have a couple of Americans. Want to talk about conspiracy? We can talk about conspiracy but it's on the other side. Not on this side."
He also discounted items in the report about former Trump attorney Michael Cohen.
"If half of what they write about Michael Cohen is true, I would be surprised," he said."The guy should go to jail for more time because of the perjury he committed...he went in front of Congress and perjured himself seven times, including saying he wasn't asking [Trump] for a job."
