Former President George H.W. Bush is planning to return to the Bush family summer home in Kennebunkport, Maine, next week.

A spokesman for the 41st president told News Center Maine that travel details are being worked out for the 93-year-old ex-commander in chief to relax at the oceanfront estate -- a family retreat since 1902 beginning with his father and mother, Prescott Bush and Dorothy Walker.

Bush’s trip to Walker’s Point -- dubbed the "Summer White House" during his administration and that of his son President George W. Bush – will his first since his wife, Barbara, died on April 17 at the age of 92.

He was came down with a blood infection a day after attending Barbara’s funeral and was in intensive care at a Houston hospital, where he remained for 13 days. Married for 73 years, the Bushes were the longest-married presidential couple in U.S. history.

The former president’s Maine compound, located in York County, features a nine-bedroom New England shingle-style home with a pool, tennis court, dock, boathouse, and guesthouse.
